Congressman Pogue Responds to Charges of Copper Hoarding in East Texas

Congressman Poage of Waco, Texas gave a lengthy speech explaining the origin and purpose of the copper found in East Texas. He also stated, "That any day the Army or Navy tells us that they need the copper our farmers have in their R.E.A. systems that we are ready to tear down our lines and turn them over to the military authorities if the private utilities are required to do the same. But there is no such need for the copper." He had asked the military and been told that the military was receiving an adequate supply.
