Excerpt from an article in Vol. XXI No. 29 of the Houstonian arguing against the Senate Joint Resolution #13 of 1934

In a Houstonian newspaper article published on October 10th, 1934, Sam Houston State Teachers College president Harry F. Estill provided reasons for citizens to vote against the Senate Joint Resolution #13. The Texas State Teachers Association rallied all their forces to reach as many educators and citizens as possible to oppose the amendment, which would have ultimately reduced the amount of money going into public educational institutions. Estill did his part in this battle by publishing newspaper articles, handing out pamphlets, and achieving full membership of SHSTC faculty members in the Texas State Teachers Association. | Source: Vol. XXI No. 29.
