A photograph of Harry F. Estill and his newly gifted Studebaker President Sudan. As a celebratory gesture of his 35 years at Sam Houston Teachers College, alumni pooled together funds to purchase the automobile, which was an expensive, luxury car of the time. SHSTC became known as a “Studebaker college” due to nine faculty members having Studebaker automobiles. This gift was a testament to Estill’s longstanding impact on his students. No one was required to send money; each student donated according to their ability and generosity. | Source: THE MEASURE OF A LIFE IS ITS SERVICE. SHSU-ESTILL, Pres.
