Monroe Dunaway Anderson

Monroe Dunaway Anderson was described as "warmhearted and witty," and lived a frugal lifestyle despite his multimillionaire status. When he was diagnosed with kidney disease and congestive heart failure, he realized that he had no children who could inherit his over $19 million dollar fortune. He put the money into a charitable trust known as the M.D. Anderson Foundation, with the hope that his foundation would serve people in the highest sense of the word.
