William Wayne Justice supported the Brown v. Board of Education (1954) decision, but could not express this view publicly until he secured a seat on the federal judiciary from President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968. In describing Justice, a former colleague explained: “Being for integration about the time I came to practice with Wayne was a damned unpopular idea.
