Sam Walker Houston Museum and Cultural Center

The Sam Walker Houston Museum and Cultural Center was founded to preserve the memory of the accomplishments of Sam Walker Houston. The museum's focus is the school Sam Walker Houston founded which was named for him, Sam Walker Houston High. The school existed during the time of segregation and its student body and faculty were all African Americans. The closed in 1968 and its student body was integrated into Huntsville High School.
