Gloria Washington speaks in downtown Tyler, Texas. During the summer of 2020, a series of Black Lives Matter protests swept the nation following the death of George Floyd. In honor of this, on Juneteenth, the commemoration of the emancipation of slaves in Texas in 1865, a series of demonstrations were held in Tyler, Texas. The local NAACP branch organized a vigil in honor of former slaves in the region.
