The Display at Unique Shopping Mall

Clarence Shackleford and Gloria Washington, the co-founders of the Texas African American History Museum, stand with their one-room display in the Unique Shopping Mall on W Erwin Street in 2018. After starting as an online venture in 2016, the museum quickly moved into physical location and collected local historical sources and African artworks. In 2018, the museum moved into a new, larger location, on N Border Avenue, and remained there until November 2020. Shackleford was inspired to found the museum so as to discover cultural artworks and artifacts to connect with his African heritage. Washington has served as curator since 2016. | Creator: J.
