Georgia Etowah pink marble

While hitchhiking in Atlanta, R. Lee Clark, a medical student at the time, spotted a building at Emory University clad with Georgia Etowah pink marble. To Clark, the soft pink symbolized peace and hope in the fight against cancer. He required that the new M.D. Anderson hospital include this marble in the architectural planning, hence its nickname "the Pink Palace."
