Tyler Half Mile of History Marker

As part of the Juneteenth commemoration efforts by the Texas African American History Museum in 2020, seven additional markers were added to the downtown “Half Mile of History” display. Arthur Dooley Wilson was a local from Tyler, Texas who became an actor, notably playing the role of Sam in the 1942 film Casablanca. Other makers added in 2020 were Willie Lee Campbell Glass, Texas College, Henry Miller Morgan, Willie Neal Johnson, Robert Taylor, and Charles Evan Coleman. The addition of these markers was due to the efforts of Gloria Washington, Executive Director and co-founder of the Texas African American History Museum. | Creator: Tyler Morning Telegraph | Date: 2020 | Source: https://tylerpaper.com/news/local/dooley-wilson-actor-known-as-sam-in-casablanca-honored-with/article_376d6783-8216-5bb8-a0b4-c7c466f83fff.html
