I had the great honor of interviewing Dr. James S. Olson. To name a few of his accomplishments, he is a historian and an academic and Pulitzer Prize-nominated author. Dr. Olson started cancer treatment at M.D. Anderson in the 1980's. As a result, he is able to give special insight on M.D. Anderson Cancer Center from both a patient and a historical researcher standpoint. He is the author of Making Cancer History: Disease and Discovery at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, which served as the major, primary source for my research. In the interview, the evolution of cancer treatment is discussed, as well as how public culture may impact cancer treatment.
