Downtown Ratcliff

With the influx of men to work at the mill, the town of Ratcliff grew up around it. Eventually the area was home to some 3,000 people and had everything from a drug store to a theater. The town disappeared just as quickly as it grew after the big mill closed in 1918. At least one dry goods merchant, Sam Cohen whose store is seen on the left in this photo, moved to Trinity and established a new business there.
